The Ferst Center for the Arts Drama Camp is a four week summertime experience that introduces campers to the wonder and detail of theatre performance.  Drama Camp offers workshops on Acting, Directing, Playwriting, Technical, Musical Theatre, and Comedy Improvisation.  In addition, campers are treated to special workshops such as accent work, clowning, puppetry, and fight choreography, as well as awesome field trips and weekly recreational activities.  The camp ends with a big show completely produced by the campers and open to all parents and friends.

For aspiring young actors, this course emphasizes both process and product. Each camper learns the three tools of an actor - body, voice, and mind. Campers also work on script analysis, group work, imagery, and basic acting technique.

Technical
Set design, lighting, sound, crew, and stage management are covered in this course on the technical aspects of theatre. Campers get hands-on training with stage equipment.

Musical Theatre

Campers learn to use their voices and bodies as instruments of expression as well as tools for theatrical character development. This course also focuses on choreography, contemporary performance dance, and how to use your voice in a large performing arts theatre.

Comedy Improvisation
Think fast! This course teaches students the art of thinking on their feet. Students learn the craft of comedy through the use of improvisation in a series of structured and fun exercises.

Special Workshops
In addition to the daily classes, students will also be exposed to a number of workshops teaching some additional theatre skills. These workshops include stage combat, masks, puppets, fun with accents, clowning techniques and much more!

*Pre/After Care Available Monday-Friday 7:30am-9:00am and 4:00pm-5:30pm for an additional cost of $50 per week.
